Album of 250 photo illustrations of the Japanese Imperial Army in the Allied Siberian Expedition 1918-1922 ranging in size from 3 5/8" x 5 1/8" to 8 3/4 x 11 1/2". Includes a panoramic bird's eye view of Vladovostok measuring 7 3/8' x 41 7/8/" and a fold out map of the route of the expedition measuring 14" x 29 3/4". Three-quarter leather stamped in gilt, rebacked. The cloth and leather corner pieces are worn and rubbed. Captions in Japanese, English and Russian with text in Japanese. title is taken from cover. Includes a number of pictures of partisan sabotage of railway between Chita and Krasnoyarsk. Hoshita Eisho^ produced at least two such albums of the warfare in the Russian Far East. Very unusual and important record of a "lost war".
